Coldwell Banker Preferred Properties will host a Shredding Event on Earth Day.

The Friday, April 22, drive-thru event will run from from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at their Lehigh office.

According to event coordinator and Broker/Owner of Coldwell Banker Preferred Properties, Fred Elliott, this is the first time the office has held a Shred Day Event.

“Several of us, including myself, have helped in other similar events in the past. Our office generates a lot of paper and has to occasionally shred them. I thought that the timing would allow us to use the fact that Earth Day is near the end of the school year and just after tax season,” Elliott said. “We will have a mobile shredder truck on site here at our office for two hours on Earth Day, Friday, April 22. The truck will shred the documents right here on site and the event will be set up in a drive-thru style. We will have assistants directing traffic and unloading boxes right from the vehicles. The documents will be loaded into bins and then the bins dump the papers directly into the shredder truck. Safe, secure and affordable.”

Residents can come have their documents shredded for just the cost of a donation of a jar of peanut butter or jelly. The peanut butter and jelly will then be donated to G. Weaver Hipps Elementary or Lehigh Community Services.

“G. Weaver Hipps Elementary is located very near to our office. Kim Conrad is a guidance counselor at that school. I have known Kim since our kids were in diapers. Now they are in their 30s. Kim approached us several years ago sharing her goal of sending every student, over 850, from that school home on the last day of school with a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jelly,” Elliott said.

The drive-thru style event will allow up to five boxes of documents per person to be shredded by a large mobile shredder truck on site for the event. Agents and staff at Coldwell Banker Preferred Properties will be on hand to lift the boxes out of each participant’s trunk or back seat and shred the papers right in front of them.

“They don’t even have to get out of their vehicle. So, we welcome everyone to come celebrate Earth Day 2022 with us and get rid of those old documents in a safe and affordable way at the same time,” Elliott continued.
